Have you ever been rejected when filling out a credit card application all because you have a poor credit record?  This can be a problem for you especially when you need a major credit card for certain things like hotels, car rentals and even flights.  You also will need a credit card for those times when you are purchasing things over the Internet or over the phone.  This is where the prepaid credit card can play a good role for you.

Basically, a credit card prepaid system works with you opening an account and depositing your money into that account.  This is very similar to opening a savings or checking account.  The difference is that you are issued a credit card that can be used much in the same way a major credit card is used.  Of course, there is a limit and that is you can spend up to the amount that you deposited in that account.  Now, this can actually be a good thing because you will never be in debt since you can't spend more than what is in your account.

And like any other banking scheme, there is catch.  You will need to pay a certain fee to set up the account that you will use with prepaid cards.  The amounts can vary in between 5 and 10 dollars just to open the account and there will be fees as you deposit cash into the prepaid account.  But that is a small price to pay to get yourself a card that's as good as a major credit card.
